About LSE Squash

LSE has three courts. Courts 2 and 3 are in the basement of the East Building and court 1, oddly, is on the third floor of the same building. The building also houses the LSE Student Union with a shop, the Three Tuns bar and also a café in the basement (The Quad) open during the daytime. Next door is another LSE eatery, the Garrick, which opens longer hours and also offers hot meals.

All three courts were given a 'quick refurb' over Summer 2010. The courts are off a fair standard. Court 1 is a closed court with a very high ceiling and a small viewing gallery. This makes it quite a noisy court but arguably a fuller range of shots can be played with the additional height. Courts 2 and 3 are glass backed with probably court 3 being the better in terms of lighting. Both these courts have some tiered viewing behind the courts and each has a referees chair.

There are changing room facilities on the first floor of the East Building which is accessed via the stairs leading up to the LSE Gym at the rear of The Quad and also in the basement of the Old Building which is on the opposite side of Houghton Street. Whilst LSE is a world class institution these changing and showering facilities sadly are not.
