| Q. What are Squash-Central Credits and how does the Booking Fee work? |
| A. Squash-Central Credits were introduced at the start of the 2009/2010 academic year (late September 2009). This facility replaced the previous Guest Tokens system which had been in place the past couple of years. Squash-Central Credits can be purchased from the LSE gym and will be applied directly to your Squash-Central account. They are priced at 50 credits per pound sterling (GBP) and will expire after six months. These credits are then used against the "booking fee" when reserving a court. When placing a booking the system calculates a booking fee based on a range of factors. This is designed to provide additional flexibility to the booking process. A booking fee will be composed of several parts including the cost to the player making the booking, a fee associated with the opponent of the booking, fee for the court (which might include variables such as peak and off-peak costs). The sum of these costs will then be presented on the booking form for the booking. For LSE there will be no difference to the cost of a booking. The LSE Squash Club does not levy a court booking fee to members playing against other members and therefore a booking fee will only be levied on guest bookings (much in the same way the previous Guest Tokens system worked). When cancelling a booking a portion of the booking fee may be refundable, but not necessarily. The refund will be based on a set of rules such as the type of booking and how much notice is given of the cancellation. At the moment the system refunds around 90% of the credits when a guest booking is cancelled with sufficient notice. This is to discourage bookings which are then cancelled making it difficult for the court to have be used by other members. This new system will allow for a more flexible system in the event that the club wants to modify their booking fee structure or if another university/club wishes to use the system.
